Christian Bollin Armaturenfabrik GmbH, Frankfurt, receives "Großen Preises des Mittelstandes" 2001

The "Großen Preises des Mittelstandes" for 2001 was awarded to the Frankfurt firm Christian Bollin Armaturenfabrik GmbH by the Leipzig trust Oskar-Patzelt-Stiftung . The manufacturing company of pressure and measuring valves is one of three Hesse winners of this Germany-wide competition, which was held this year for the seventh time. 69 members of the jury evaluated some 1600 entries by chambers, associations, government steering committees, provincial state council offices and mayors, against criteria such as overall development of the company, the creation/safeguarding of jobs, powers of innovation, service and customer orientation, as well as social and regional involvement. "My colleagues and I are delighted about the prize which acknowledges our work according to the motto:
"We all pull together to satisfy the customer," company chief Dagmar Bollin-Flade was quoted as saying on hearing the result.
The company directed by Dagmar Bollin-Flade and Bernd Flade was commended for customized and value for money solutions with short delivery times to the chemicals and petrochemicals industries, as well as for power plant technology. The company leads the world in its range of products; in the area of measuring control valves alone it produces 350000 different types. Thus, with a workforce of 25 people, the company has taken a share in the German petrochemicals market of 75 per cent. Nearly one million marks have been invested in the last five years and a modern machine park equipped throughout with CNC machines has been set up. The establishment of a production system, which accommodates the needs of the employees as regards working times, has also brought benefits for all sides. The company contributes to the region in a variety of ways, ranging from participation on standardization committees for the unification of a world market standard and work in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Frankfurt am Main on behalf of SMEs, to the support of social amenities, sport and creation of jobs for the long-term unemployed and maladjusted young people.
